February 13, 2016 9:00PM at The Hollow Bar + Kitchen

if you like metal / disco / craziness / fun , this is the show for you. these guys put on my favorite show of 2015. http://www.letsmaketragedyhappen.comTragedy: All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees and Beyond, has changed the face of music forever. Tragedy takes your favorite Bee Gees, disco and soft-rock classics and reinvents them in a Heavy Metal fashion. The result is aural ecstasy. You may enter the Tragedy experience unaware of your latent appreciation for gooey soft rock or flamboyant metal, but you shall emerge forever humbled by the greatness of Tragedy (and covered in glitter!).Tragedy has sold out venues like Bowery Ballroom, Brooklyn Bowl and Terminal 5 in their hometown of NYC, as well as those in far-away lands such as London, Glasgow, Disneyland, Austin, Boston, DC, Tampa and Guilfest (with Motorhead).Tragedy has released two critically acclaimed albums: We Rock Sweet Balls and Can Do No Wrong and Humbled By Our Greatness. Production for their third, Death to False Disco-Metal, is underway.“Tragedy manage to dwell in the realm of novelty while far exceeding their worth as a concept ... the aesthetic is somewhere in between the flamboyance of the disco-era Bee Gees and the flamboyance of mid-eighties hair metal, with some extra flamboyance thrown in for the sake of flamboyance.”Tiny Mix Tapes“Hard riffs, tight white flares, and even tighter octave-scraping harmonies…essential listening.”The Sun, UK “Everyone from Feist to Tom Jones has covered the disco hits of the Bee Gees, but perhaps no one does those gooey soft-rock numbers better than Tragedy…Shiny costumes, dramatic eye makeup and headbanging hilarity…”Village Voice“Back in the dark days of disco, the Bee Gees were the shit, despite having massive teeth, bigger hair and a falsetto only dogs could hear…with the righteous power of heavy metal, We Rock Sweet Balls and Can Do No Wrong mixes Guns ‘N’ Roses swagger, the Scorpions’ sense of pomp and Judas Priest-esque vocals to create a sound that is exactly like The Darkness!”Kerrang--------------------------Hairband RiotIt was a time when America was booming economically. Shopping malls and middle class housing developments were popping up all over the place. Clothing was viewed as the more colorful, the better. Home computers, car phones, video games, cassettes and “boom boxes” were the latest craze. Everything about the 1980’s was loud, proud and in your face. Yes indeed, these were happy times, especially if you were a teenager. MTV became the focal point of every teenager’s TV set. The 80s brought the music video revolution. Many music critics say that the most popular music of a time period represents the mood of our country. MTV was a celebration of the good times and the sometimes obscure, 'over the top’ music videos were a reflection of the bigger the better. In the midst of this social movement spawned a style of band, music and video that was embraced and exploited by MTV. Today, that style is referred to as 'Hairband'.Hairband music (guys and girls with big hair, outrageous clothing, big sounding drum and guitar driven rock) took over MTV and the radio airwaves. Before the Internet, you actually had to go see a band live and buy their record to get close to them. The result was millions of loyal fans who wore their favorite band on their sleeves and have kept them in their hearts for decades. Hairband hard rock and metal is still very popular among 80's teens and lots of newly discovered fans who view it as their "classic rock”. Groups like Kiss, Iron Maiden, Ratt, Dokken, Poison, Warrant, Quiet Riot, Ozzy Ozbourne, Y & T, Twisted Sister, Skid Row, Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Scorpions, Motley Crue, Van Halen, Judas Priest and so many others created this thunderous music. Yet, there seems to be a void for this much loved music in the live music scene. In walks "Hairband Riot". This music group is made up of schooled musicians. Michael "Bruce" Bruce and Todd "Figaro" Minnick make up the rhythm section. The drums of Bruce and bass of Figaro have been as solid as a rock for almost 15 years. These two have been the rhythm section for touring rock, country, pop, jazz fusion and funk horn bands. Then there's Wayne Richardson. An 80's style tribute band better have a wailing guitar player and Wayne is just that. He delivers the crunching riffs and blistering solos of hard rock just the way people remember them. Last but not least, the vocal power and personality of Jason Caldwell leads the way on one Hairband anthem after the next. In addition, the rest of the band chimes in on vocal duties to add big vocal harmonies. Everyone in the band has a friendly personality and are totally professional through and through. They play the songs the way they are supposed to be played, which will be total ear candy for the passionate listeners. This show is all about FUN and nothing else. It's a celebration of one of the most glorious movements in music history. Hairband Riot will not give you 4 guys with big hair dressed up in spandex, but will give you a walk down hard rock memory lane, playing the songs a generation of die hard fans love and worship to this day. Come one, come all and remember with Hairband Riot what it’s like TO ROCK!
