The Story
This perfectly balanced Porter was made popular in the 18 and 19 centuries by common folk who worked an honest day’s work. The Quiet Man, a movie directed by John Ford, featuring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara, accounts the life of common Irish folk in a small hamlet called Innisfree. The movie features a famous bar fight where the two main characters took some time out to have a few “black beers” before resuming their fight. Porters almost went extinct in America. But, thankfully, were revived in the mid 1970’s. This porter is one of our brewery favorites.

Cicerone Notes
A traditional porter. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, toffee and toast. Flavors are similar to aromas with a little bit of nuttiness midway on the palate with smooth bitter finish. This Brown Porter uses a Dry English Ale yeast and traditional English hops to give it delightful appeal.

Food Pairing: Serve in a 13oz Goblet or 16oz Pint/Nonic glass between 45-55 de-grees F. Pairs well with Asiago, Brie, Colby, Emmental, Gloucester, Gouda (aged), Gruyère cheeses, Roasted, smoked and barbecued foods, including beef, poultry, seafood, sausage, chili and hearty stews. Try with cheesecake for dessert.
