The term “double” refers to the use of greater amounts of malt and hops than the standard style, but this beer isn’t literally twice as big as the Flashpoint IPA. These two beers are variations on the same theme: hops. The Double IPA has a more intense bitterness, a little more malty sweetness to maintain balance, and is slightly higher in alcohol. This beer is double dry hopped, once in the fermenter and then again in the serving tank. The hops themselves are different, lending separate bitterness, aromas and flavors.
