Drake's Blonde Ale

Drake’s Blonde is our lightest style offering in the year round lineup. To make this beer, we looked to the traditional beer of Köln, Germany, the ever-refreshing, balanced, and pale Kölsch, as an inspiration. While our Blonde is more Californian than what you’d find in Köln, its light body, balanced maltiness, and floral, spicy German Noble hop profile make our Blonde both incredibly approachable and extremely refreshing. Try our Blonde on a hot summer day alongside some fresh local seafood or lighter salads.

Food Pairing: German dishes, salads, chicken dishes, grilled foods, fish, shellfish and spicy foods

- “Best of Show” (Kolsch) 2008 California State Fair
- Honorable Mention(for Best of Show – Cream Ale) 2007 California State Fair
- Gold 2003 California State Fair

Hops: German Magnum, French Strisselspalt, Spalt Select (German)

Grains/Adjuncts: American 2-Row Barley, Weyermann Pilsner

Yeast: White Labs 001

When it came to creating Ripper, we drew inspiration from the coastal surf cultures of SoCal and Oz. Sourcing classic Cascade from the Pacific Northwest and Australian Galaxy hops from…yes…Australia, we made a beer both lovers of frothy peaks and hoppy green buds will be stoked about. At the same time, we stayed true to our San Diego roots by pushing the hop boundaries of this style. While some might think it lingers on an edge far closer to an IPA, with all the dry-hop flavor and aroma, it’s actually right in line with the current-day interpretation of a West Coast pale. Ours just so happens to have an Aussie accent that’s cascading with a juicy amount of grapefruit and passion fruit hoppiness.
