A Collaboration between Firefly Hollow and Hog River Brewing
Fire Water Rye is the culmination of a long professional relationship between Firefly Hollow Brewer Dana Bourque and long time Connecticut Brewer Ben Braddock. Dana and Ben began working together at the Thomas Hooker Brewing company in 2010, and their friendship and professional respect for each other has blossomed into the beautiful red ale ale before you. Ben is in the process of opening Hog River Brewing Co. in Hartford CT and is currently brewing some of CT’s best at the Willimantic Brewing Company.
The Fire Water Rye is a malty and robust Red Ale brewed with loads of flaked and malted rye, Munich malts, and a hint of beechwood smoked barley. We wanted to capture the rich sweet malt flavors of dark Munich malts, the slick spice from a combination of flaked and malted rye, and a hint of spice from central European Sybilla hops. We also incorporated a hint of beechwood smoked malt to capture the essence of the season. The beer is rich and toasty, with hints of smoke and spice, and a pleasant lingering malt finish. Cheers!
