Ladyface 'The Shepherdess' 7th Anniversary Ale

Brewed by Ladyface Ale Companie

American Barleywine9.7% ABV

Ladyface Ale Companie celebrates its 7th year with a nod to our local heritage. The city of Agoura Hills was named after a French Basque shepherd, Pierre Agoure, who homesteaded the Conejo Valley with his flocks c.1871. Wool is a traditional 7th Anniversary gift, and a symbol of warmth and comfort.
The Shepherdess is a full-bodied, brown-hued beauty with ruby red highlights. Resting comfortably in California red wine barrels for 20 months, this Belgian Barleywine has developed aromas of dark caramel, raisin, toasted bread, and light oak. Notes of balanced hop character meld into the Belgian ale yeast flavors of light fruit with white pepper; barrel character of vanilla, charred French oak, and red wine warm the palette for a complex finish.

Other notes:
Raw materials:
Barley: 2-row, Belgian Caravienne(20L), Belgian Aromatic malt, Patagonia Especiale (150L) malt
Hops: Apollo and Columbus
Belgian house yeast (La Chouffe strain)
Barrel-aged 20 months in California red wine barrels (French oak)
