This milk stout is an English style full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar) because lactose is un-fermentable by brewer's yeast, it remains in the beer. The subtle sweetness and fullness of flavor imparted by this sugar balances sharpness of the highly roasted malts that give this delicious beer its black color. Two different types of oats were used, flaked oats for body and mouth feel, and wood fired rolled oats imparting a subtle smokiness at the end.
