Grimm Brothers Brewhouse opened in July 2010 by two avid homebrews. We emphasize German style beers both traditional as well as historical style beers. The first brewery in Loveland CO and multiple award winning beers from both GABF and World Beer Cup.

The Baron is the first in our Six Soldiers of Fortune Series where we will feature historic German sour beers. It’s a traditional Berliner Weisse with a solid wheat malt body and an assertive sour flavor. The low alcohol provides easy drinkability with a crisp finish and just enough tartness to let you know it’s there. Berliner Weisse dates back to the middle ages. It is usually very low in alcohol and very effervescent. Historically these beers were packaged in earthenware crocks or bottles that were left in a cellar or buried until the beer developed its lactic acidic character.

Meet the non-barrel aged version of The Count, The Countess. The first known use of the word stout for beer was in a document dated 1677 found in the Egerton Manuscript. The name porter was first used in 1721 to describe a dark brown beer that had been made with roasted malts. Because of the huge popularity of porters, brewers made them in a variety of strengths. The beers with higher gravities were called “Stout Porters”, so the history and development of stout and porter are intertwined. Imperial stout, also known as Russian imperial stout, is a strong dark beer or stout in the style that was brewed in the 18th century by Thrale’s brewery in London, England for export to the court of Catherine II of Russia. This is indeed a strong dark beer perfect for the winter months. Cheers!
