Part of our Legacy and an influence on our name is Heritage Brewing Company. Mark Mericle, our executive brewer and partner in Legacy Brewing Company, co-founded Heritage Brewing Company in 1988 in Dana Point, California. It was the first microbrewery in Orange County and one of only a handful of breweries in all of Southern California. At that point the average distance traveled to a brewery was 24 miles and all equipment was either custom or re-purposed dairy/winery equipment. The blonde ale you drink at Legacy is basically the Gold Medal Winner from the 1992 Great American Beer Festival, the Nut Brown Ale we serve was from that era also, garnering a “World Class Rating” in the World Guide to Beer. Legacy was founded because of a love of beer and beer culture all over the world.
