Brewed and then aged for 9 to 12 months in used Rioja red wine barrels; Daniel 29 is an incredible Robust Porter reminiscent of a Flander's Red. A wonderful light funk and tartness in the nose and on the palate, similar to that of lactobacillus and/or pediococcus. Deep chestnut brown color with a persistent, tan, rocky head. Creamy, nearly luscious mouthfeel balanced by spritzy carbonation. Wood tannins and vinous. Prunes and dried dates. Cacao, light coffee, and dark pumpernickel raisin bread. The time, effort, love, and care that went into this beer is absolutely palpable.
