Blackthorn Cider Company

It all started in 1972, when our team of master cider makers were tasked with crafting a West Country cider to beat all others. They were inspired by the mysterious Blackthorn tree, whose fruit becomes sweeter from enduring a harsh, bitter winter. It symbolizes the truth that many of life’s sweetest moments come from embracing and conquering the challenges life throws at you.

Today, Blackthorn is still lovingly pressed and crafted at our cider mill in Shepton Mallet, and is affectionately known by the locals as ‘Thorn’.
