DeAnna Wendolyn
DeAnna Wendolyn started singing as a child and has always been a “ham”, according to her family. As a young child, she would wake up from her afternoon naps to hear her father playing piano and sometimes an old guitar and singing. She began playing piano at age 7 and continued piano lessons for ten years. Throughout her school years she sang with the church choir and school choirs. In 1998, at age 17, DeAnna’s father suffered a debilitating stroke that changed her life forever. One night, in honor of him, she picked up her daddy's old classical guitar for the first time, and taught herself to play. Shortly after graduating from high school DeAnna began singing regularly at the Jonnie High Show in Arlington, TX, at the Fort Worth Stockyards Opry, and at Billy Bob's Texas. In August of 2003, tragedy again hit her family when her father passed away. One year later on the anniversary of his death, she went to St. Croix in the USVI to spread his ashes over the ocean. Whilst continuing her passion for writing music, that cloud of ashes and loss of faith stayed with her for over 5 years. With many songs written, about loss, death, hope, love, and eventually faith, a friend surprised her with a full recording session. In October 2009, with renewed faith and a humbled heart, she finally went to the studio to record her first album “from the ashes” in two days. All twelve tracks on the CD, plus a hidden bonus track, were written and performed by DeAnna. The CD was released December 2009. In the summer of 2011 she recorded and released a new album, “untethered”, an EP with five new original songs. The new album features guitarist Ron Geida (of popular Fort Worth band Villain Vanguard), who now accompanies DeAnna at most of her shows. She went on tour to St. Croix, USVI three times in 2011 in support of “untethered”. Both albums are available on iTunes. Ron and DeAnna enjoy playing covers from country to easy-listening to folk to rock, but especially her originals. They perform at many venues in the Fort Worth/Dallas metroplex including wineries, coffee shops, bars and patios. DeAnna Wendolyn hopes one day to reach out and connect with her fans and many people through her lyrics and melodies.
