Chapter:SOUL is a new player on the New Orleans funk scene - a 4-piece modern funk and soul band led by Calvin Johnson Jr. (Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Dirty Dozen Brass Band) on tenor saxophone. The band builds upon - and modernizes - New Orleans' energetic brass band rhythms and horn-driven melodies by seamlessly weaving in bounce beats, contemporary hits, and deep grooves reminiscent of the P-Funk era. The band also includes Terry Scott Jr. on drums, and Kashonda Bailey on keyboards and organ.
Chapter:SOUL gets people out of their seat and up on the dance floor, and will be a new favorite for fans of Earth, Wind and Fire, Galactic, Parliament-Funkadelic, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Big Sam's Funky Nation, and others.
Chapter:SOUL is currently working on its debut record, and will be bringing a live preview of their original music on the road.
