The story of Johnny Appleseed is based on an actual frontiersman named John Chapman. But John Chapman didn't just spread seeds willy nilly so kids could have tasty treats. He planted orchards in specific areas and though his apples weren't good for much and way too bitter to eat, they were perfect for hard ciders! So let's celebrate this national holiday dedicated to an alcohol enabling hero!
