Drawing Workshop at The Grid

About the most enjoyable way to learn a new art, in a fun enviroment with friends.

Join us as we teach the basics of drawing with charcoal.
Enjoy some drinks, food, desserts, music, and art all at once.

All levels of artists are welcome.
Instruction will be provided by Aaron (James) Fink, who will teach you the basics of drawing, as well as the techniques you need to know if you want to draw.

We work by using still life subjects to achive realistic renderings of objects just by looking at them.

ANYONE can lean to draw better, You can be as good as you WANT to be, it just takes practice. We all learn at a difference pace, but as long as we always try, we always improve.

Everything you need is available at most craft stores and can all be bought for about $30 or less

NEEDED SUPPLIES:

Drawing Pad - preferably at least 9"x24"
HB, 2B, 4B, 6B Charcoal pencils or Compressed Charcoal sticks
(I use Strathmore 400 series)
Sketch Book
Sharp utility knife (for sharpening pencils)
Chamois (just a little pice 6"x6", must be real leather)
piece of Cotton, or wool
Kneaded Eraser
Magic Rub Eraser

Recomended Supplies:
You don't have to have any of this stuff, but they make life easier

Ruler
A drawing board with clips, bigger than your drawing pad
Container for carring gear, I use a tackle box
Latex/Nitrile gloves
Masking Tape



Many Craft Beers on-tap, we also have many NON-Alcoholic things to enjoy Milkshakes, Rootbber float (made with local craft rootbeer) and premium coffee drinks.

We also have a full kitchen with awesome burgers, delicious vegan options, and authentic street tacos!

Workshops will meet TWICE a month (the 2nd and 4th Wed. of each month) From NOON - 4PM (4 hours long).

Cost: $20 per class. per person. (MAX 10 PEOPLE) for now, maybe more for future classes.

I will set up two still life subjects for every class meeting
Once simple object, and one more advanced.

Learn:
-I will explain, and demostrate the step-by-step proces to rendering a realistic still life drawing
- How to use the tools, in your drawing kit
- I will explain and demonstrate various tools for redering proportions, angles, and elipses.
-I will teach you how to work in 3 dementions and draw using tones, to create depth, volume, shape and texture.
- How to see, understand, and properly render light.
- understand perspective

After Each Class we will look at each others work and do a Critique to point out the strenths of each piece as well as provide feedback on how to impove your work.
