Hanukkah Latke Cooking Competition

December 19, 2016 7:00PM - 9:00PM at Whole Foods Market - Redwood City

Watch 4 culinary teams race against the clock to create the tastiest, most original potato latkes and earn the title “Top Latke Chef.”

Judges: Effie Speigler, Executive Chef, The Oakland Stadium, J. Kenji López-Alt, SeriousEats.com and author of "The Food Lab", @Hadar Harris, Exec Director of the Northern California Innocence Project (NCIP), Andrew Siporen, Whole Foods Market Team Leader

7:00 p.m. Latke Competition

8:30 p.m. Judges lead discussion about latke cooking, and Kenji Lopez-Alt describes the science behind a great latke.

8:45 p.m.: “The Food Lab” Book Giveaway/Signing

During the competition, shoppers can sample potato latkes and other kosher treats. Following the competition, there will be a book giveaway of “The Food Lab” and book signing by Kenji Lopez-Alt.

Whole Foods Market Los Altos, Jewish Study Network, and the ICC @JCC Oshman Family Jewish Community Center are teaming up to host the event. Rabbi Joey Felsen will serve as master of ceremonies.

“The Jewish Study Network is really looking forward to partnering with Whole Foods Market in this competition. It is a great way for the community to come together and prepare for Chanukah,” said Rabbi Felsen.
