What is mead you ask?
Conjuring images of medieval knights and fierce Norseman, mead, also known as "honey wine," is believed to be the world's oldest alcoholic libation. Mead is made by fermenting honey with water. Like beer, mead is sometimes flavored with fruits, spices, grains or hops. It is generally higher in alcohol than beer and more in line with grape wine—typically between 8 and 20% ABV. Also like wine, mead is produced in a variety of sweetness levels, from bone dry to lusciously sweet and can be still or sparkling.
Tonight we will be featuring a variety of styles by some of our favorite brands. We will be pouring samples to pair with a house select charcuterie board. Kent Waldeck, owner of Crafted Artisan Meadery will be conducting an informational presentation discussing the mead making process.
