Meet Gulu's July artist, Megan Biddle Snyder!

"Being an artist for nearly 10 years, I have been procuring work in a variety of media types. Starting as a graphic designer and illustrator to now falling in love with printmaking and mixed media, specifically monoprinting. Monoprinting is when the print can only be made once through applying ink to the surface of a plate, unlike intaglio printing, which replicates the same image over and over. Although more traditional printmaking is a beautiful process, I feel the speed in which I can create prints suits the activity in the marking making process. I am inspired by the activity of the printing press, mimicking the action of the early Abstract Expressionists and the rhythm of music. The pieces are named after songs from particular album that I had listened to during studio time. Each piece is one of a kind and takes on a life of its own."
