The Barrow Brass Band // Ruckus Trio // Siobhan Leilani

As part of NZ Music Month 2017, Flight 605 and Soho Wine are proud to present four free entry curated boutique music shows, bringing some of Auckland’s best emerging and established talent to the public in an intimate setting.

THE BARROW BRASS BAND
Raging horns and heavy rhythms, Barrow Brass Band play with improvised freedom and interplay that can, and does, go in any direction. Grooves through dance, drum and bass, hip hop and second line, Barrow Brass Band plays tunes you know, think you know and make you think.

RUCKUS
Ruckus are an improvising quartet playing new compositions by David Ward.
Long marinated in such juices as Monk, Coleman, Mingus, Lacy, Zappa and Frisell, David writes music that is melodic, humourous, rhythmic and joyous.
From twisted tango and carnivalesque romps to disheveled swing and free tunes, this group agrees with Frank: jazz ain't dead, it just smells funny.

SIOBHAN LEILANI
Neo-soul meets Jazz meets Hip Hop in this hybrid project fronted by Siobhan Leilani. Their confessions of love and loss meet political and social issues in a subversive roller coaster ride of emotions, time signatures and phat bass.
