Tales of the Obsessed: Chuck & Buck

August 09, 2017 7:00PM - 9:00PM at Bear Vs Bull

CHUCK & BUCK is playing at the New Mission Theater as part of our latest series TALES OF THE OBSESSED: Ingrid Goes West and The Movies That Inspired It.

"I love stories about outsiders -- intense, desperate or lonely people with their faces pressed against the glass, searching for a way in or some kind of real human connection. Like their protagonists, these films don't conform to society's standards; they're wild and unpredictable, sometimes dangerous or uncomfortable to watch, but always fascinating. When Aubrey Plaza and I were making Ingrid Goes West and looking for inspiration, these were the films we kept coming back to again and again for their fearless performances and mastery of tone. Thanks to the good people at Alamo Drafthouse for letting us share them with you. Enjoy!" — Matt Spicer, director of INGRID GOES WEST

CHUCK & BUCK, first film to pair the director Miguel Arteta with writer/actor Mike White (The Good Girl, HBO's Enlightened, Beatriz at Dinner) is "the most perversely agreeable stalker picture ever made." -Slate

Chuck and Buck are childhood best friends whose lives have taken very different paths. While Chuck moved away and now has a real life, Buck stayed behind and developed a dangerous fixation--on Chuck's life. A heartfelt, sweet and funny story about a coming of age better late than never that's also the disturbing tale of a pathetic sociopath and the man he stalks.
