Tom Hanks: Live from the Texas Book Festival

November 04, 2017 4:30PM - 6:30PM at House of Wax

We’re partnering with the Texas Book Festival to present an evening with the man, the myth, THE HANKS!

Not content with merely being an Oscar winner, cultural icon, Hollywood mogul, SNL secret weapon, and all-around swell human being, Mr. Tom Hanks has added published author to his long list of achievements.

His first collection of shorts, “Uncommon Type: Some Stories,” hits shelves this October, but the buzz is already swelling. “It turns out that Tom Hanks is also a wise and hilarious writer with an endlessly surprising mind,” says some guy named Steve Martin. “Damn it.”

And Mindy Kaling says that Hanks’ poignant and playful writing is, “exactly what you hope from him, except you wish he were sitting in your home, reading it aloud to you, one story at a time.”

While we can’t deliver Tom Hanks to your home for a private reading sesh, we can invite you to our exclusive livestream event happening at Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide on Saturday, Nov 4. Gather with us at this one night-only event to hear dear ol’ Hanks read and discuss a sampling of the seventeen stories comprising “Uncommon Type" beamed live from the First Baptist Church in Austin, TX.

As warm and magnetic as Hanks is on film, we’re betting this intimate evening will feel as fun, freewheeling, and satisfying as time spent with a dear old friend — just, you know, a friend who’s like a really big deal.

It’s also a safe bet tickets will be gone faster than you can name any Hanks movie. Book purchase required with ticket. Grab yours now.
