Weird Wednesday: Inland Empire

May 17, 2017 10:00PM - 1:00AM at Bear Vs Bull

In feverish anticipation of the return of TWIN PEAKS, we're honored to present David Lynch's howling 2006 masterpiece in 35mm!

Actress Nikki Grace (Laura Dern) lands a part in a Hollywood remake of a Polish film which was unfinished due to a mysterious tragedy. As she attends auditions, on-set meetings, rehearsals and TV interviews, time begins to collapse, psyches framgent and Nikki's life becomes inseperable from the film and a sitcom featuring a family of rabbits.

No director has ever worked closer to his unconscious than David Lynch and, facilitated by the use of amateur digital-video technology, his three-hour modern surrealist opus INLAND EMPIRE takes this enigmatic filmmaker as far inland has he has ever gone. INLAND EMPIRE is as personal as a diary film and as bold as a manifesto.

Shot over the course of two and a half years without a formalized script, it is the culmination of the profound lure Lynch has on audiences: unconventional and disorientating storytelling expressed through tantalizingly abstract imagery and bizarre symbolism. INLAND EMPIRE is an impossible film to summarize, it is only to be experienced.
