Writer's Workshop

Join us in the first of our monthly writer's workshop series. For only $20, participants will get instruction from a published author, John Darling, pen, pad of paper and first beer.

John Darling is a Ventura, California author who has written and published numerous short stories, poems, magazine articles, and one short play. His first publication appeared in the May 1976 issue of "Journal of Mental Health" published by the Arizona State Hospital.

His lone play, "Stage Directions", has been produced in the United States, Canada, and most recently at the Soho Theatre in London, England.

Many of his short fiction and non-fiction works have been collected in anthologies.

"On Borrowed Time" contains eleven mysteries revolving around a hard-boiled private eye named Detective Anderson.

"The Angel and The Bear" is comprised of 18 stories of mixed genres from hard-edged science fiction to romance.

You're the Who?: A guide to classic band name origins + rock connections!, is a collection of short articles which tell how rock bands and singers chose their stage names while also showing Rock Connections between the performers.

He also co-authored a cookbook with his late grandmother, Loretta Duffy. Their work, "Grandma’s Favorite Recipes", is a cookbook made up of his late grandmother's favorite recipes which she hand wrote over the course of seventy years.

He has also authored a short, three-part, prose play entitled "The Earthling" which tells the tale of a son who is coming to grips with his father's suicide.
