Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, Old Rasputin seems to develop a cult following wherever it goes. It’s a rich, intense brew with big complex flavors and a warming finish.
To appease the spirit of 16-year-old Mercy Brown, who died of consumption in 1892 and was suspected of becoming a vampire, the Mercy Brown Imperial Ale offers rich warm malt notes to awaken the senses (though perhaps not the dead). Dried plum, toasted malts and dark caramel tones finish with a spicy herbal hop flavor.
Pleasantly fruity with a typical top-fermented smell & aromas of clove and nutmeg. On the tongue it is fresh, clean, full-bodied, & finishes with a light, delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a sour impression.
