November 22, 8:00p.m. - 2:00a.m.

Satanic Overlords of Rock n Roll (Houston, TX) https://www.facebook.com/satanicoverlordsofrnr/ Evil Rock N Roll in the vein of the Dwarves, Black Sabbath, Turbonegro and all of the other Devil loving rock bands you seem to enjoy! Poizon (Houston, TX) http://records.twistworthy.com/bands/poizon Comprised of Shawn Adolph (THE FATAL FLYING GUILLOTEENS, WEIRD PARTY), Kyle Gionis (SUGAR SHACK, WEIRD PARTY, WELFARE MOTHERS), Josh "Wolf" (SECRET PROSTITUTES, SNOOTY GARBAGEMEN, THE ENERGY, CRIME WAVE), and Halston Luna, POIZON is subtly punk and punk as fuck at the same time, unpretentious while maintaining an unheralded ability to capture the listeners attention by just, you know, doing what they're doing. Mutant Love (Bryan/College Station, TX) https://www.facebook.com/mutantlove666/ The Genzales (Houston, TX) https://www.facebook.com/Thegenzales/ Taking their name (and inspiration) from Johnny Thunders’ birth surname, the Genzales formed in early 2017 with the idea of just writing some songs and playing ragged and energetic rock and roll: punk rock molded in the form of not only their namesake, but other miscreant rock and roll punk forebears as well like Loney-era Groovies, Real Kids, Nervous Eaters…the Lazy Cowgirls. Messy, noisy and never earnest, and always sullied by their roots, their songs always nod to the Kinks and the Pretty Things. Band members consist of remnants of Houston bands like the Born Liars, modfag and the Freakouts, as well as the B-Movie Rats from Los Angeles. New single for ‘Don’t Smoke in Bed’ on Raw Ramp Records coming soon.

Punksgiving!

November 23, 7:00p.m. - 1:00a.m.

Punksgiving! Bed Devils Information Overdose Information overdose is a punk band formed in Houston Texas. We play different types of punk genres like pop punk St Punk hardcore punk. Spike Polite & Sewage (from Reagan Youth) Sewage, a street punk rock band, formed during the spring of 1991in Manhattan's Lower East Side. The band were squatters at 3BC hanging out in Tompkins Square Park involved in the riots throughout the early 1990's. Sewage performed the Pot Parade with David Peel , Onyx, and Cypress Hill (a popular Hip Hop act in 1992) and opened up the fatal final show of infamous scumrocker GG ALLIN on June 27th of 1993. GG was best known for abusing his audience with fecal matter and abusing himself by rolling in broken glass. Sewage played ABCnoRio with Bambi as well as drunk punk band Public Nuisance. SEWAGE played other squat shows, and played with the Casualties at the 13th Street Squat. The band lived in the squats and on the streets yet were not crusties or politically correct, rather the groups members were just individuals who fought street fights, bar fights, as well as against abusive authority in a time when gentrification was starting...back when real estate influenced police to shut the neighborhood down and close up the spaces which artists and musicians lived, as well as famous important landmarks. Sewage later on was filmed in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame's documentary on PunkRock- in which both sides of the Atlantic Ocean where punk rock was created and became popular, argued over who started punk rock. Sewage played many gigs but mainly within the tri-state area and performed live on Crucial Chaos WNYU radio as well as a couple of Squat pirate radio stations. SEWAGE performed frequently at CBGB's with the RAMONES as DEE DEE RAMONE was a friend of the band who also put SEWAGE in his fanzine SHOOTING DOPE. World renowned art gallery KOSTABI WORLD through Paul Indrek Kostabi's efforts, signed SEWAGE to a record deal on GRIM REAPER RECORDS in 1998 after the band did a split 7 inch vinyl release with HAMMERBRAIN in 1996. Spike Polite, the bands lead vocalist/guitarist, was signed with Eastwood Talent which placed him as a model and an actor, and placed him and his band in many commercials and movies. To name a couple: Armani, Debra Harry's clothing line, NYPD Blue's PLAYERS, a Sony commercial, 200 cigarettes, Reqium for a Dream, DAVID LETTERMAN and many other projects. SEWAGE performed frequently in Tompkins Square for the 1988 Riot memorials each year. In 1998 SEWAGE, Spike Polite on lead vocals/guitar, Dante Rosati on bass, Mark Zero on drums, performed in the Spike Lee produced film "SUMMER OF SAM" on ABC/WALT DISNEY in which SEWAGE was used in the television commercial for the movie, as well as the Entertainment TV station with host Howard Stern. After the filming SEWAGE released their self titled full length CD which was sold through Tower Records and Coconut Records nationwide as well as SEWAGE performing at bigger venues such as Club Life for their record release show with the punk legends "The DICKIES", where the likes of Sharon Stone,Derek Jeter of the NY YANKEES and the gals from the FORD MODELING AGENCY hung out. Spike Polite joined MTV video jockey "JESSIE CAMP"as the guitarist for the band "JESSIE CAMP & The 8th STREET KIDZ" in 1999 in a video that co stared MARKY RAMONE of the RAMONES and REVEREND RUN from the early Rap group RUN DMC in the song "SEE YOU AROUND" on Hollywood Records, It aired every hour on the hour on MTV, when MTV still had bands and music on their station.... Escape From the Zoo Escape from the ZOO is the electric and amplified punk band formed by Jesse Sendejas of folk punk sensation Days N Daze. $10 cover

The Killer Hearts * The Cops * City Life * The Phantom Royals

November 24, 8:00p.m. - 2:00a.m.

The Killer Hearts (Houston, TX) https://www.facebook.com/pg/KillerHeartsOfficial "Killer Hearts are a searing rock n roll band from Houston. - These guys are impressive to see live and they have the rock 'n' roll power " -David Garrick, FPH TKH - featuring members of Electric Frankenstein, Texas Terri & The Stiff Ones, Down & Dirties and The Wrong Ones The Cops (Houston, TX) https://www.facebook.com/THe-Cops-1176247895781584/ There was a time when punk music didn’t make a statement, but it was more fun and politically incorrect. Acts like NoFX did kind of whatever they wanted while still dropping some quality punk records without apologizing for the sentiments expressed within their songs. Part of the aesthetic to punk music is to buck whatever the mainstream does, so it should come as no surprise that there’s a new punk band who is far from politically correct. Houston’s The Cops, featuring members of Talk Sick Brats, dress like police officers and sing songs from the cop’s point of view. Like the way KISS put on makeup and became the characters they portrayed, this four-piece dons police attire and become characters singing what you’d expect a cop to sing about. This year they dropped four singles that are tongue in cheek and far from serious, but they’re also some pretty solid punk jams that are catchy and hard to ignore. - David Garrick, FPH City Life (Austin, TX) https://www.facebook.com/atxcitylife/ Take 3 parts STEPPIN RAZORS, Treff LaFleche (also SLICK SURFACE AND HIS LADYKILLERS, CONCOMBRE ZOMBI, LOWDOWN SHAKY CHILL), Jimmy T., and Jason, and then add Lucky Santiago (THE RECLUSIVES, THE BULEMICS, THE RITCHIE WHITES, NO GRAVE BUT THE SEA, CHURCH OF DIVINE SPIRITS). Stacy’s B-Day: Funeral Horse, Only Beast, Alone On The Moon

December 1, 9:00p.m. - 12:00a.m.

It's Punk Rock Stacy's BIRTHDAY PARTYYY 9:15 - Alone On The Moon 10:15 - Only Beast 11:15 - Funeral Horse Cover: $8 Doors @ 8:00 21+ only Funeral Horse facebook.com/FuneralHorse “If judged on the merit of riffs alone, Texan tarnation masters Funeral Horse would be a holy grail of hard-rock. The constant shifts from road-rage solos to dusty blues riffs to pavement cracking noise-rock/hardcore to vintage 70s hard rock backed by a walloping rhythm section will keep you guessing and ducking for cover as to which direction the bombardment is coming from next. With band members lovingly named Paul Bearer (vocals/guitars) and Jason Andy Argonauts (bass), the entire project has the recipe for sheer global conquest via tongue-in-cheek humor laced into a serious, non-nonsense rock foundation.” - Jay S., Teeth of the Divine. “Anyone who wants more from their stoner rock than chewed repetitions of a sound we heard countless times before can advantageously turn to the upcoming album from Funeral Horse. Where many others in the constant flow of riff-based rock band for a life in the absence of their own creative initiatives, these Houston-based men refreshingly disrespectful of genre boundaries and preconceptions about how it "should" sound.” - Maria van der Lee, Slave State Magazine (Sweden) Only Beast onlybeast.bandcamp.com “On their latest album, Again, they not only forge their own path, they burn the bridge that got them there. Full of rock throttle and intense vocals, there are songs here that sound like pain and desperation chimed from the highest towers. This band always does things in a fresh and new way, and the end result of their characteristically novel approach is one of the most intriguing and engagingly different albums I’ve heard in a very long time.” - David Garrick, Free Press Houston “Collectively, their name suits them — Salinas goes from nuanced to a frenzied, blood-in-the-water attack in a heartbeat; Bernick's instrumental savvy drives the band's sound, but there's something wild and instinctual about his playing, too. Renee prowls the stage like a predator, waiting until the perfect moment to pounce with a big voice expressing timeless motifs. The trio's dynamic live show has made them one of Houston's premier bands …” - Jesse Sendejas Jr, Houston Press Alone On The Moon facebook.com/pg/aloneonthemoonband Alone on the Moon is a video-obsessed, instrumental post-rock/stoner/post-metal band from Houston, Texas. The group formed in 2012 as a collaboration between Joe Lovchik (guitar) and Seth Johnson (bass). Joe and Seth met through mutual friends and found they had the same vision for a heavy, instrumental sound. Nathan Smith (drums) was quickly recruited to fill out the jam sessions, and the trio began writing. Soon, the band made a unique impression in their hometown with their epic songcraft and psychedelic projections. Guitarist Ahmad Saad joined Alone on the Moon in 2015, adding a rich, new layer to the group’s heady outpourings of distortion. Alone on the Moon recorded its first demo EP in 2015 at Big Door Studios. The group has headlined concerts throughout the Greater Houston area, delivering deep and potent grooves accompanied by mind-bending lights, lasers and videos.

December 2, 8:00p.m. - 2:00a.m.

The Velostacks (Houston, TX) https://www.thevelostacks.com/ The story of The Velostacks is the journey of a pack rock n' roll wolves hell bent on giving a voice to greasy motorheads and broken-hearted rockers everywhere. Pulled together by frontman and rhythm guitar player Curtis W. DeGidio, The Velostacks quickly left their mark on the Houston, Texas underground rock n' roll scene, leading to the honor of being nominated for "Best Punk Band" in the 2014 Houston Press Music Awards... a major achievement in their freshman year. Rich "Rico Havoco" Crishock joined The Velostacks only hours before the first performance and has remained a constant along side Curtis since their first outing. Bass player Christian "The GFN" Best, holds down the thundering rhythm along side drummer Randy Miller. In 2017, starting with their kick-off show for the year, The Velostacks added Joe "Pete O'Fender" McSweeney to their hard hitting stage show. The Velostacks have shared the stage with the likes of The Dictators, Lower Class Brats, The Casualties, Cheetah Chrome, Jukebox Romantics, Tex & The Horseheads, .45 Grave, Rick Agnew (The Adolescents), 30 Foot Fall, and many, many more. The Velostacks have been influenced by everything rock n' roll & dirty blues including Motorhead, Turbonegro, Mott the Hoople, Johnny Cash, Social Distortion, Robert Johnson, Led Belly, and Blind Lemon Jefferson. 2017 will see the release of The Velostacks debut single "Blood on the Carbs" on vinyl for the first time, previously only being available via digital download. In addition, The Velostacks will be releasing their first full length "Black Magic & Motor Oil" this same year. Brewtality Inc (Austin TX) http://artistecard.com/brewtalityinc Established in 1999, Brewtality Incorporated plays the kind of working class, beer guzzling, punk rock that has earned the band opening slots for the likes of U.S. Bombs, The Cromags, Citizen Fish, The Queers, and M.O.D. When you see Brewtality Inc. live, expect a raw, energetic, non-stop Ramones-style set with beers held high overhead. The guitars are loud yet distinctive, and the bass lines throw up all over you as the drums pound away at you like a whiskey hangover. If you're on the wagon, Brewtality Inc. may just knock you off and run you over. Pale Waves (Manchester, UK) http://www.palewaves.co.uk/ "You’d be hard pressed to find a band with as much buzz around right now as Pale Waves. When they dropped their debut song, ‘There’s a Honey’ earlier this year, everyone wanted a slice of The 1975-produced newcomers. They later supported their collaborators on their gigantic US/European tour, playing at arenas across the globe. Not bad for a first single. Now, things are stepping up a notch as they share their second song, ‘Television Romance’. It is, as you’d expect, a shimmering, summer-tinged indie banger, one that will no doubt end up filling venues up and down the country when their next tour is announced. Opening with a swirling guitar riff, its the song’s heavenly chorus that allows the Manchester quartet to elevate into a league of their own. Even bigger things are on the horizon for this already outstanding band." - NME Friday December 08, 2017 Pegstar Presents Pale Waves All Ages, Doors 8pm Advance:$12 adv Day Of: $14 day Tickets Go On Sale: Friday Sep 22, 2017 at 10:00 AM Tickets Available at:https://www.stubwire.com/event/palewaves/rudyards/houston/16190/

The Guillotines * Legacy Lives * The Genzales * American Psychos

The Guillotines (Houston, TX) https://www.facebook.com/Die.Guillotines/ Although hailing from Houston, TX, The Guillotines has it's roots in the underbelly of the legendary '70's Cleveland and New York punk scenes. Founded by the infamous Robert Conn on guitar, (The Pagans, AK-47's, The Plague, and Defnics ) with co-founder and wife, Jewels on bass, their only goal was to play the real, gritty, full throttle punk rock that they helped create back in the 70's in Cleveland/NYC..... The band, since it's inception have shared and destroyed stages with many of their punk vet friends like Cheetah Chrome, The Zeros, The Vibrators, The Meatmen, Angry Samoans, Texas Terri Bomb, just to name a few..... The band is rounded out byGlenn Gilbert (Prophets Of Addiction)on lead guitar and Stevieryder on drums. Their sound is pure and the attitude is fierce. Rock n roll is back with a fury!! Enjoy! Legacy Lives (San Antonio, TX) https://www.facebook.com/Legacy-Lives-142385002518695/ Legacy Lives is now Justin Delashmutt (drums), Jason Lomas (guitar/vocals), and Vee Riot (bass) and we are now rocking hard! Our set list is a mix of mostly original songs written by the band and a few hand picked cover songs. We draw influence and inspiration from bands such as Dinosaur jr., Rancid, The Ramones, The Misfits, Backyard Babies and other bands that are punk in origin or paved the way for other great bands. Originality is what makes this band and originality is what will drive the band forward in our musical journey. Legacy Lives has gone from an idea for a music project to a full on band writing and playing songs that embody the roots of rock'n'roll and punk in it's 6 year history. Presently, it is 2017 and we are expecting a great year, so come celebrate music and rock'n'roll with us! See you at the show! The Genzales (Houston, TX) https://www.facebook.com/Thegenzales/ Taking their name (and inspiration) from Johnny Thunders’ birth surname, the Genzales formed in early 2017 with the idea of just writing some songs and playing ragged and energetic rock and roll: punk rock molded in the form of not only their namesake, but other miscreant rock and roll punk forebears as well like Loney-era Groovies, Real Kids, Nervous Eaters…the Lazy Cowgirls. American Psychos (Houston, TX) http://americanpsychos.wixsite.com/mysite American Psychos was born in rural Liberty Tx in the winter of 2015. Self-taught guitarist and lead vocalist Matthew Flores, self-taught bassist Nickolas Flores and self-taught drummer Alekzander Flores didn't have access to teachers but didn't let that stop them. In under a year. the brothers were writing their own songs inspired by their favorite bands, Misfits, Panic! At The Disco, and Fall Out Boy. The band has played a pre-party at Solstice Festival in Austin and headlining a monthly summer arts festival in Baytown, Tx and tour around Texas. They have a video with over 14,00 views and climbing, on YouTube. Stick around and watch as Matthew, Nickolas and Alekzander grow, and bring in a new generation of alternative rock.

Castaway Radio * Fail Mary

December 16, 9:00p.m. - 2:00a.m.

Castaway Radio (Pearland, TX) http://www.castawayradioband.com/ Imagine that the Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand had a kid, but one of them had an affair with The White Stripes all while The Black Keys raided the fridge. This debacle of love would give you Castaway Radio’s catchy, “unique kind of throwback sound”. The band has gone through transformations and contributors since its conception, helping the band develop, each step of the way. Castaway Radio brings a polished, high-energy, down to earth performance that creates an instant crowd connection. Fail Mary (Wharton, TX) http://www.failmaryband.com/ Fail Mary is an indie rock duo based in South Texas consisting of drummer Chris Glass and singer/guitarist Connor D. Jones. The pair formed Fail Mary in November 2014 during their time at Wharton County Junior College as a fun side project to play at open mics and talent shows. Soon after, the band started recording and releasing early demos at a rapid-fire rate. Most notable of these is their six-track demo EP, The City Skyline, which released February 2015. Fail Mary spent the next two years street performing and playing small shows. All the while, the band stayed busy writing new material and experimenting with new techniques for an official release. By early 2017, the duo found their footing, their voice, and their identity. Their experiments manifested themselves in Fail Mary’s debut release in April that year: a self-produced, self-recorded, self-released EP about heartbreak and abandonment entitled Showcase Your Sorrow—showing marked improvement over their previous recordings.

You figure it out Prof.Fuzz 63 (Dallas, TX) https://www.facebook.com/prof.fuzz63/ The Prof.Fuzz 63 is a Dallas-based lo-fi fuzzed-out garage-rock trio that's been described by one listener as the "love child of Tom Waits and the Supersuckers." Someone else said we sound like the Velvet Underground, "but not as cool as Lou Reed, because, who is?” Yet another critic said we sounded like “1991 Mudhoney with fuzzed out guitars and British Invasion organ.” We're ok with those descriptions. We sing songs about food, sex, kittens, crustaceans, pandas, seduction & disappointment, minnie pearl, and nick cave. You know, the intersections where idyllic fantasies get broadsided by the under-insured 18-wheelers of real life running the red light. Mydolls (Houston, TX) https://www.facebook.com/MydollsHoustonTexas Mydolls (1978-present), Houston’s original femme punk band, was formed in 1978 by guitarist and vocalist Trish Herrera, bassist Dianna Ray, guitarist and vocalist Linda Younger and drummer George Reyes. As one of the earliest art punk bands in Houston, Mydolls created a DIY sound that was as ethereal, fluid and poetic as it was politically charged and feminist. Throughout their nearly 40-year history, these pioneering musicians have paved a path for women and minorities in the music and arts scenes, and they continue to perform today with their original lineup. During the 1980s, Mydolls were interviewed by John Peel on BBC Radio and performed in Win Wenders’ Cannes award-winning film Paris, Texas. Mydolls and the Houston punk scene were the focus of a 2016 music-based lecture series at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, and the band most recently performed as part of the SPEAKEASY experimental music and art program series at Lawndale Art Center in Houston. Their latest EP, It’s Too Hot for Revolution, was released as a collectible red vinyl edition in February 2017.

Project Grimm's 8th Annual Xmas Blowout!

December 23, 8:00p.m. - 2:00a.m.

Dear fan(s), our annual Xmas Blowout is coming up on December 23rd at Rudz. These yearly shows are always great fun, and we always enjoy new and old friend(s) alike. Expect some pretty cool special guests, as well as some fun stuff from us. Take the opportunity to escape your cloying, smothering family, and come participate in the cathartic power of guitar rock, in the emotionally unstable way that only PG can conjure. As this is our third and final show of the year, we've probably got about ten or so shows left in us before we escape this scatalogical whirlwind and enter the beyond. We weren't cool when we started, we were less cool as the months turned into years, and we are now so far from cool we don't even know what that word means anymore. No matter, Houston has plenty of leather-vested geriatric-deniers available to satiate your need to feign immortality. Join us, won't you? Pagan holidays are utterly primed for rock! Project Grimm (Houston, TX) http://www.projectgrimm.com/ A decidedly less experimental group than its most direct predecessor, the Mike Gunn, Project Grimm was formed in 1995 by Gunn frontman and guitarist John Cramer to satisfy his urges to be a bit more straightforward in his approach to guitar rock. Interested in looking to build a band around this new direction, Cramer called local drummer Rick Costello (of Houston band Bleachbath) who volunteered his services straight away. Drew Calhoun joined on bass, and former Schlong Weasel (University of Houston "branch") member Jim Otterson rounded out the lineup as second guitarist. Their first show, on July 3, 1995 was followed by recording sessions that would result in their first album, Lying Down out on Linus Pauling Quartet's Ramon Medina (also a former Schlong Weasel-er) Worship Guitars label in 1996. The pace of recording and releasing would slow down considerably for the band, which wouldn't quite get around to releasing the follow-up until 2003. In the meantime, Bo Morris would take over on drums for the kicked out Rick Costello, and Cramer would work with former Mike Gunn colleague Scott Grimm on his Dunlavy project. July 2003 would see the release of Project Grimm's second album, Huge Beings (released on Camera Obscura's Australian sister label Camera Lucida), but it would also see the band split -- on the very day of the album's release. Leader John Cramer would later appear as a solo artist working under the name the Powers of Light & Darkness, and played sporadic shows around Houston. --Chris M. True, allmusic.com Slow Future (Houston, TX) http://www.slowfutureband.com/ SLOW FUTURE is a rock band from Houston, Texas. The band originated in 2014 as a new beginning for guitarists/vocalists Joel Hoyle and Mike Starbuck, and drummer Koree Smith, who played in a previous band together. Bassist Phil Jackson ran into Smith at a party and asked to join the trio’s new venture. The quartet has created an instinctive blend of punk-inspired rock. Their debut single, “Girl Gets Down”, echoes the grit of garage rock and the melancholic aggressiveness of ‘80s and ‘90s underground rock. It’s all about making meaningful connections through real emotion translated into raw music. This group of self-styled, small town outcasts is releasing its debut E.P. in April 2016, and will be playing throughout the Southern region to support the release. Let the music tell you the rest of the story! Clouded (Houston, TX) Reunion show Yeesh. I really got behind on updating these damn things... I wish I could say that I know what happened to one-time local indie-rock heroes Clouded, but I'm afraid that I'm in the dark -- all I can tell for sure is that they're definitely not playing any shows anymore, which is a shame. I'm a stubborn bastard -- meaning that I hate recanting my previous opinions. I do like to think I'm not entirely unchangeable, though, so here goes: Clouded were pretty damn cool. I wasdisappointed by some of their live shows, but they also had some really good ones, too, and their self-titled CD was verygood. Anyway, theyed play catchy, anthemic, full-of-melodies, alternative-type rock, with a lot of '70s arena-rock influences alongside (a la the Smashing Pumpkins, as an example). They sometimes engaged in a bit of guitar wankery, but they were pretty solid overall, with some interesting songs. They put out a tape, the Jessica EP (which I've never heard), and the aforementioned CD on 76.2% Records (now Ojet Records), and like I said, it kicks ass (keep listening after the last song listed, by the way). I'd heard that they were going into the studio to record a new EP for 76.2% at some point, but nothing ever materialized, as far as I know. - Space City Rock 5/2/2003

New Year's Eve with The Cops * The Velostacks

December 31, 8:00p.m. - 2:00a.m.

The Cops (Houston, TX) https://www.facebook.com/THe-Cops-1176247895781584/ There was a time when punk music didn’t make a statement, but it was more fun and politically incorrect. - David Garrick, FPH The Velostacks (Houston, TX) https://www.thevelostacks.com/ The story of The Velostacks is the journey of a pack rock n' roll wolves hell bent on giving a voice to greasy motorheads and broken-hearted rockers everywhere.

Joe Lovechik's Bday show: Alone on the Moon

January 5, 9:00p.m. - 2:00a.m.

Alone On The Moon (Houston, TX) https://www.facebook.com/pg/aloneonthemoonband Alone on the Moon is a video-obsessed, instrumental post-rock/stoner/post-metal band from Houston, Texas.

Black Pussy * Funeral Horse * Doomstress

January 12, 9:00a.m. - 2:00a.m.

Black Pussy (Portland, OR) http://madeinchinarecords.com/artists/black-pussy/ (The short of it) Black Pussy is a group of rock n’ roll pot-smoking fun-loving hippies that are passionate about art, creativity and the dynamic human spirit which refuses to submit. They encourage all ages and creeds to take the ride with them. (The long of it) For Dustin Hill, the creator and songwriter of the band, Black Pussy sounded like a fantastic name. It encapsulates exactly what the band is: a psychedelic, ’70s-influenced, hide-your-daughters-because-they’re-coming-to-town rock ‘n’ roll band that sounds like Tarantino directing a Thin Lizzy video in the low desert. For the past few years, the group has continuously headed out on North American tours, including a full U.S. and Canadian stint opening for ex-Kyuss legends Vista Chino in 2013 as well as sharing the stage with Sleep, Red Fang, Danava, Yob, Boots Electric, Black Tusk, Mothership and Dead Meadow. Their rigorous touring regimen has rightfully earned them the tagline, “ON TOUR FOREVER.” The group has also spent the last three years recording the band’s blend of heavy, psychedelic rock songs with not only Portland recording engineer Adam Pike (Red Fang, Norska, Black Elk, etc.) but also the legendary Kyuss founding drummer and multi-instrumentalist Brant Bjork. Black Pussy approaches their music style with influences across three decades of rock: the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. The result is a cohesive blend of Kyuss, Hawkwind, The Cars, Monster Magnet and Queens of the Stone Age. Their classic, upbeat and relentlessly hooky tracks embrace traditional pop structure within heavy rock and led to Hill coining the phrase “stoner-pop”. Their catchy music tends to seduce anyone, even those who wander in a club after seeing the intriguing band name on the marquis. There is no contrived contention, just fun, love and good tunes. Everyone is invited to this party. The 2012 debut album, On Blonde, was written and mostly recorded by Hill alone, though guitarist Ryan McIntire, drummer Dean Carroll, bassist Aaron Poplin and keyboardist Chief O’Dell later joined the band. The record kicks off with the rip of a bong and sounds like a drug-riddled midnight misadventure in a ’70s muscle car. The track “Blow Some Steam Off” landed a spot on the February 2013 Metal Hammer compilation. 2013 also saw a split release from Black Pussy and LA-based Biblical Proof Of UFOs: a contact high-inducing, 22-minute psychedelic opus entitled “Galaxies.” Magic Mustache, the brand new full length album, was released on February 17th of 2015 and the band is touring this Spring, Summer and Fall in support of it. The album has received much acclaim and had premieres from Noisey, Decibel, Terrorizor and Metalsucks.net. This exposure led to a backlash from politically correct new wave feminist groups seeking to shut down the band online with misconstrued accusations of misogyny and racism. Responding to this, the band released a statement: “…Ultimately, the music and the message is what should be scrutinized rather than the clothes we wear or the name we chose. But whatever. Trolls are gonna troll, complainers are going to complain and people who get it are going to keep on getting it.” Scheduled for an August 18th release is an EP of 5 songs entitled Where The Eagle Flies. The first single is a cover version of Blue Oyster Cult’s classic “Don’t Fear The Reaper” and with the premiere of the music video from Blank TV, this release offers an eclectic collection of rarities. As the band grows, so will their musical footprint, ultimately placing them in a category all their own. Black Pussy is doing what it does best: sending you on a cosmic journey through time and space, blurring the lines of psychedelic mysticism and reality. Black Pussy is setting out on the third leg of their summer tour starting August 20th and ending in October with support from fellow Northwestern rock trio Ape Machine. Funeral Horse (Houston, TX) https://www.facebook.com/FuneralHorse/ “If judged on the merit of riffs alone, Texan tarnation masters Funeral Horse would be a holy grail of hard-rock. The constant shifts from road-rage solos to dusty blues riffs to pavement cracking noise-rock/hardcore to vintage 70s hard rock backed by a walloping rhythm section will keep you guessing and ducking for cover as to which direction the bombardment is coming from next. With band members lovingly named Paul Bearer (vocals/guitars) and Jason Andy Argonauts (bass), the entire project has the recipe for sheer global conquest via tongue-in-cheek humor laced into a serious, non-nonsense rock foundation.” Jay S. - Teeth of the Divine. “Anyone who wants more from their stoner rock than chewed repetitions of a sound we heard countless times before can advantageously turn to the upcoming album from Funeral Horse. Where many others in the constant flow of riff-based rock band for a life in the absence of their own creative initiatives, these Houston-based men refreshingly disrespectful of genre boundaries and preconceptions about how it "should" sound.” Maria van der Lee - Slave State Magazine (Sweden) Doomstress (Houston, TX) http://doomstressband.simdif.com/ "I can’t think of a Doom band with a singer that puts so much energy into her vocals and performance. Only Brandon’s remarkable weighty tone and ability to effortlessly conjure lead-heavy Doom-soaked riffs keeps the band from careening wildly into the stratosphere."-Chris Barnes, Hellride Music "Doomstress, takes cues from bands like Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy, and adds a murkier tone that sounds like its bellowing from the depths of hell. The EP, Supernatural Kvlt Sounds, takes you to a place that sounds like a mix of the past and present to craft its own sound that sticks in your head after the first listen!" -David Garrick, Free Press Houston "...Doomstress aims for a straightforward, more vocal-oriented approach that takes its cues from 70s rock and traditional metal...The original songs show a lot of potential for what could come in the future and the covers show sides of the band that may also be developed. It’ll be interesting to see where the band and its namesake frontwoman will go from here." -Chris Latta, Indie Metal Shows "Doomstress Alexis simply said “We are DOOMSTRESS from Houston, Texas” and let Doom do the rest of the talking with the massive “Way Of The Mountain”...Tomasz Scull who was pounding the drum skins like there was no tomorrow...Brandon Johnson and Joe Fortunato delivered the Doom double guitar harmonies with a pinch of heaviness, while Alexis was steadily getting her performing mojo, adding lots of emotion...you don’t get that level of confidence and self-awareness from a lineup which was about to put[only] the seventh gig into the books!" -Maria V & Dimitris Kontogeorgakos, Metal Kaoz

The Guillotines * Legacy Lives * The Genzales * American Psychos

January 19, 9:00p.m. - 12:00a.m.
