Paper Bird Hailing from Denver, Colorado, Paper Bird first emerged from the same environs that launched such outfits as Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats and the Lumineers. The group has toured extensively throughout the U.S., sharing bills with the aforementioned bands, as well as Daryl Hall & John Oates, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and Shakey Graves.

“Paper Bird is a band that possesses a sound that’s more than the sum of its parts,” Oates effuses. “It’s the coming together of two perfect trinities. It has three distinctly unique female lead singers whose harmonies blend together as one...united with an inventive, cohesive rhythm section trio. I loved their sound from the first time I heard them and they just keep getting better. They are a true musical family united by a unique and pure artistic vision...a rare quality in this day and age of so much disposable and less than original music.”

Paper Bird has a sound that blends the engaging vocal harmonies of Fleet Foxes and The Lone Bellow with the classic ‘70s stylings of bands like Heart and Fleetwood Mac without imitating or emulating any one of them in particular. Indeed, the new music is rugged, resilient and flush with enthusiasm. It conveys the essence of inspired Americana, while still staying true to its riveting rock regimen.
“This is definitely the start of something exciting,” Summeril suggests. “We’re at a point in our career where we feel we’re ready to take on the world.”

Valley Queen-
Six years ago, Valley Queen’s front woman Natalie Carol drove to Los Angeles on a whim, looking to expand her musical horizons. After a lonely and frustrating year, she was on the verge of returning home when she happened upon an acoustic jam session where she met guitarist David Donaldson. Carol was immediately reminded of the comfort and friendliness of her Arkansas roots; the perfect environment for musical creation. She could hear traces of her hometown influences in his riffs: Zeppelin, Duane Allman, and Muddy Waters. The two began collaborating, exchanging ideas and drawing in other like-minded musicians. “It gave us all something to rest our heads upon, a musical family that became a home for us all,” says Carol. Today, Valley Queen is a hybrid of southern rock and Motown, with traces of 1970s canyon rock. “Carnival”, the A- side on their debut 7” produced by Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, FIDLAR, Fool’s Gold), embodies these influences as Meadors sings about creating a supportive artistic community in Echo Park. The B-side “Make You Feel” is a bluesy slow jam about young love.

Theone-
The White Russian. Pour in some blues-rock, halve it with that old school twang, and with a splash of Russian-folk, you get the perfect mix for your Americana pleasures.
Growing up in Santa Monica under the influence of her professional recording and performing Russian father, Theone developed an eclectic taste for song writing and instrumentation. Playing guitar, Celtic harp, balalaika, and drums, reaching over the borders of music composition and arrangement is one of her strong suits. The sound of her new single “Empty Feelings” captures an essential essence of old school country as well as folk-pop. The folk-pop impressions are heavily centered upon her story-telling techniques, especially heard with her lyrical patterns and contrasting instrument vibrations on “Empty Feelings”.
Before re-locating to Flagstaff, AZ for college, Theone was the drummer for the Orange County rockabilly sister band, The Rad Cats, currently known as The Nesting Dolls. With The Rad Cats, Theone performed at honorable venues such as The Echo in Los Angeles and Viva Cantina in Burbank for The Ronnie Mack Barn Dance, as well as at community events and private parties. Theone has had the pleasure to share the stage with Ty Cox of Hot Rod Lincoln and ShaNaNa, Brian Whelan-currently on tour with Dwight Yoakam, Johnny Hatton of the Brian Setzer Orchestra, and Elvis of Three Bad Jacks.
Up in Flagstaff, Theone is a member of the Grand Canyon Calls Orchestra, based out of Tusayan, AZ, singing and playing harp, balalaika, and guitar. In spring 2014, she began work on her first album, Rising with musician and producer Jeff Lusby-Brault of Enormodome. Rising, to be released in summer of 2015, features Arizona musical guests Rich Neville (Vince Gill), Brad Bayes, and Tony Martinez-previously on tour with Jake Owen.
Theone’s delivery and presence on stage is something of considerable mention, thanks to her committed years of live theater and film experience. Her voice has repeatedly been compared to Chrissie Hynde, Tom Petty, and Wanda Jackson. With the combination of strong stage character, a voice of classic rock and country rock, and a taste for world music in a rock n’ roll suit, Theone live is an experience you will want to revisit again and again.
