Medium bodied and lightly hopped, this classic Oktoberfest-style ale is brewed in tribute to the Red Jacket Mine of what is now Calumet and to the glory days of the copper industry in the Keweenaw Peninsula.
Deep ruby red in color with a dense off-white foam. Toasted/roasted caramel malt introduction with nice bready characteristics. Full-bodied with medium carbonation. Well-balanced with slight lingering citrus rind and subtle sweetness.
The yeast evolves gently to deliver a magnificently refreshing fruity and citrus note accompanied by a fine sparkling hint of acidity. The light sweetness of bananas and honey melt on the tongue and mingle with subtle and slightly more bitter notes of nutmeg.
